Christmas magic in Bussolengo
In the most magical time of the year, from December to January 6th, Bussolengo changes completely. Every year, the city centre is decorated for Christmas and becomes even more surprising and stunning for children and adults. Piazza XXVI Aprile lights up with lights, colours and magic. On the 7th December at dusk, lights get switched on to welcome Christmas, together with the unmissable mascots Tunk, Prezzemolo, Baldo and Brr, who accompany the traditional band concert.
Piazza XXVI Aprile and the city centre streets host the ice skating rink, the carousel, the Christmas village and a real ice house. Central streets come alive with the crafts market, an opportunity to buy Christmas presents, with many things to choose from, all of them hand-made. Cold-cast porcelain creations, engravings on wood, and screen-printed glass Christmas tree balls. At nightfall, the tree lightning leaves everyone amazed with big smiles and dreamy eyes. The appointment with Saint Lucia is a must-see, as she brings sweets and candy to all the kids who have been good during the whole year. Santa Claus arrives as well on his sleigh, together with his nice helpers elves. The kids can give their letters in the hands of the famous big man with the long white beard.
There are many events taking place during the festival, up until the traditional Christmas Concert, which fills up Santa Maria Maggiore church with a magical atmosphere. From December 8th the courtyard of the Sanctuary of Madonna del Perpetuo Soccorso lights up with the evocative exhibition of Nativity scenes, where adults and children get lost walking in awe among welcoming and snowy miniature villages.
On December 31st all go out and celebrate New Year’s Eve in the square together, with live music, food and entertainment, to start the year in the most magical way. The celebration ends with the traditional “Bruiel dell’Epifania” the bonfire ritual whose flame represents hope and the strength of burning everything old. Adults enjoy mulled wine during the evening, while there is no shortage of pandoro and chocolates for kids. In San Vito village many events take place and movies for kids are shown, while on January 6th you can see the astounding living nativity scene. The promotion of local products is never ending during Bussolengo Christmas Magic! We look forward to seeing you every year with the most festive and serene tradition which never ceases to amaze.
